SUN. NOV. 12: "Welcome Back, JD!" JD Malone, Dallas Malone and Craig Bickhardt In-The-Round Song Swap
November 12, 2023
JD Malone has been making music for over a quarter of a century, and he continues to write songs about things in his world, and societal topics of the day. His perspective informs his latest album, Town and Country. JD Malone returns after a year of fighting difficult health issues, and The Living Room is thrilled to be welcoming him back to the listening room stage. He'll be joined by his son Dallas Malone, who is following in his father's footsteps and leaving his musical mark throughout the mid-Atlantic. His songs and style is the talk of the town.
When Craig Bickhardt steps onto a concert stage, he comes equipped with his trusty acoustic guitar. He’s also accompanied by something invisible, yet ever-present: the stories of a lifetime, vividly translated into words and melody.
From the boisterous club scene of Philadelphia to the country-rock milieu of Los Angeles to the picking parlors of Nashville, Craig has immersed himself in the sights and sounds of American music. His music reflects a life lived as a rock band lead singer, a solo troubadour, a dedicated songwriter, a husband and father. Dreams, heartaches and hard-earned lessons have fed his creativity. There is no other way he could’ve written the eloquent, often bittersweet songs that have become his trademark.

November 17, 2023
After their jam-packed reunion show last April, Medea returns to the Living Room to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their second album, “The Miracle Line,” described by critics as “sophisticated” and “dreamy but sinister electro-jazzy folk” with “an XPN vibe.” The band will also play new songs from their upcoming EP “GhostBox.” Medea is a dark and dramatic alternative rock band born in 1999 made up of members Irene Lambrou, Patrick Robinson, Tony Winkler, Rich Curtis & James Farrell. So far, there are three well-received albums of original music, and now the band has reconvened to create more sultry compositions, colored by recent national and personal tragedies, and flavored by the ever-present feeling that time is growing short.

SAT. DEC. 2: Bet Williams and Elizabeth Lee - Album Release Concert!
December 02, 2023
Two powerhouse singer-songwriters have joined forces to create a new album, "93 Stories.” Elizabeth Lee, "rock queen" from Texas, and Bet Williams, a longtime favorite on the Philly music scene, met while touring with their own successful rock bands in Europe over the past decade. An uberfan saw the “powerfrauen” in an acoustic setting and was so inspired by their soulful voices and unique style of rock, blues and folk, that he insisted on footing the cost for them to record a few songs together. That started what has now become “93 Stories,” a full album of original songs featuring their fantastic harmonies. “93 Stories” CD will be released in Europe in October, with a tour in Germany, France and UK, with a US tour to follow.

SUN. DEC. 3: Boombox Logic: Art Exhibit Opening featuring Kuf Knotz, Diane Roka and Doerthe Externest
December 03, 2023
Exploring the beautiful moments and energy of live music, this exhibit gives an up-close and personal experience of live performances through art. For the first time ever, this trio will present their work to the public. Each artist has spent years crafting their work, pouring endless amounts of love and passion into each piece.
Boombox /ˈbo͞om ˌbäks/ (noun) a portable sound system iconic to the hip hop culture, providing a nostalgic, uplifting symbol of music.
Logic /ˈläjik/ (noun) a particular way of thinking, especially one that is reasonable and based on good judgment.
This exhibit is intended to connect music, culture, and forward-thinking. Come enjoy a beautiful night of music, conversation & art.
We're proud to present this new art exhibit through January 24, featuring Kuf Knotz, Diane Roka and Doerthe Extenest:
* Kuf Knotz was enamored by the way street photographer Jamel Shabazz was able to capture the raw photos that embodied the energy and essence of New York hip hop culture, and gained further knowledge by attending The Art Institute of Philadelphia. As a renowned touring hip-hop artist, Knotz has had the opportunity to travel throughout various global communities, finding a deep appreciation for candid shots. He believes that photography is a way to capture the joy within human nature that creates lasting memories.
* Diane Roka is a “drawtographer" who works like a documentary-style photographer: fast, live and in the moment, but using charcoal on paper instead of a camera. She studied fine art at Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts with acclaimed artists Emma Amos and Lloyd McNeil, and was a contributor for several years to the online music magazine Perfect Sound Forever. She has drawn live at hundreds of shows at Philadelphia music venues, where she has captured many local and touring musicians. Diane’s portrait of the musician Ginger was used for the album cover art, website design and merchandise promoting Ginger’s recently released album Higher Frequency.
* Doerthe Externest has an instinctive understanding of capturing the essence of a musician while leaving a trace of herself. Since her move to Philadelphia from Germany in 2005, she has focused her lens primarily on the local music scene, of which she has become an integral part. And, as she herself admits, after years and years of relentlessly perfecting her own craft, what once began as a joyful albeit blissfully unaware journey has turned into a deep passion.

December 31, 2023
Come ring in the New Year with a champagne or apple cider toast with one of our favorite performers! Ben Arnold! Ben brings along his incredible horn section 48-Hour Orchestra to perform a set you won't forget!
Ben Arnold is reintroducing himself. A songwriter, musician, performer and producer, he remains longtime fixture on the Philadelphia musical landscape. He has toured regularly throughout the country as well as Europe for the better part of the last 25 years. With a crusty, curmudgeonly, but loving take on the world around, Ben Arnold continues to reveal more of himself with every record and live performance. Always a different day, another mood and another view on the human condition. This is not an artist who has simply paid his dues. Ben Arnold is compelled to doing what he does, and does so with one of the most unique, if little known voices in music today.
